Ricky Ponting  won the toss choose to bat first,Australia resuming there overnight score of 316/4, declared the innings at 459 for 4, The major contributors were Michael Clarke 168 runs , North 112,  Simon Katich scored 79 runs and captain Ricky Ponting scoring 41.
