The 11th spy was apprehended trying to board a plane in Cyprus. Now the 11th spy, Christopher Metsos, is missing. Guardian.co.uk reports, “The Cypriot police issued an arrest warrant when Metsos failed to report to a police station in Larnaca, a condition of his bail after he was detained on an international arrest warrant issued by the FBI. However, the Americans, who were astonished that Metsos was freed on bail in the first place, will be working on the assumption that he has been whisked out of the country by the Russian intelligence service. One potential route of escape is via the Turkish-run enclave in northern Cyprus which is not recognised by the US or most other countries.”

Just days ago the FBI busted a spy ring in Manhattan, arresting 10 Russian spies. Of the 10, most were living suburban lives as married couples. One, Anna Chapman, was courting high-society contacts and transferring digital data. The 11 spy has remained more elusive.

Metsos was the paymaster for the spy-ring and is known to have left money in dead-drops for other Russian spies working in the US. Metsos, 58, is posing as a Canadian, but his citizenship may be Russian. He was traveling in the company of a much younger, attractive woman before he was arrested.

VOA news says, “Cypriot police say Canadian suspect Christopher Robert Metsos failed to show up Wednesday at a police station in the city of Larnaca, where he was expected to sign in. Police said they were preparing to issue an arrest warrant.

Shortly after police apprehended 10 Russian spies in Manhattan, the 11th spy, Christopher Metsos was taken into custody in Cypress. He was allowed bail and now he is missing.
