George Michael, a sportscaster, passed away in his 70

Let’s give our deepest condolences for George Michael’s family. George Michael, a sportscaster on “The George Michael Sports Machine” passed away yesterday (December 24) in Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington D.C. Pat, his wife, said that George Michael had been suffering a chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

For these last 27 years, George Michael has been a sports director and sports anchor of WRC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Washington. Today (December 25), WRC issued his death and their deepest condolences. “George Michael was our friend and colleague for more than 25 years,” WRC said in a statement issued Thursday morning. “He was a dynamic force around our newsroom and in the entire Washington area. George was a pioneer in sports broadcasting. He was a gifted interviewer, a master storyteller and one of the hardest working journalists out there. Our hearts go out to his wife, Pat, and his daughter, Michelle, both of whom also worked with us for many years, as well as the rest of his family.”
