Aircel announce $300 million deal with Nokia Siemens
Mobile service provider Aircel, has signed a deal worth $300 million with telecom network equipment maker Nokia Siemens Networks to roll out GSM services in Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan in April 2010.
Nokia Siemens will supply the radio, core and microwave network equipment and operate the network in these three states for four years.
The deal will help Aircel reduce its network’s carbon footprint, but also prepare it to launch 3G services in the future.
Aircel has a subscriber base of over 31 million as on December 31, 2009 and currently, it provides services in 18 of the total 23 telecom circles in the country.
