Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi on March 14, 2012 read out the much awaited rail budget, in which a nominal hike in the train ticket fares was announced. But the party chief of the minister Mamata Banerjee does not seem to be happy with the increase in the fares.

The party chief has now asked the Railway minister to either resign or to roll back the hiked fares of the passenger tickets. Trivedi after the reaction of the party chief said at a press conference that he has done his duty and has left it to God.

The members of the Trinamool Congress took just minutes to attack the minister at the Parliament after he concluded this address. Rajya Sabha MP Derek O Brien attacked by saying that increasing the fares for the upper class was ok but it wasn’t essential for the increase of fares for all the classes.

Even TMC minister Sudip Bandopadhyay demanded that the hike should be taken back and added that they are opposing as their party leader has taught them to protect the interests of the poor people.
