Federer has never won this event. It is rather odd for a man who was won 16 grand slam tournaments. Federer has been sailing smoothly in the tournament so far. He comfortably defeated Seppi in the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-2 score. The crowd must have been expecting some fight after a wonderful performance by the Italian against Wawrinka in his previous clash.
Similarly, Djokovic easily defeated fifth seeded, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga in straight sets in their quarterfinal match. Djokovic had a close first set (7-5) after which he dominated the opponent in second set (6-1) to win the match. Djokovic won the title last year after Rafael Nadal won it five consecutive times.
Although Federer has an overall better head-to-head record (13-10), Djokovic has won four out of the last five matches played between the two.
