Valencia is going to stay at third spot in the league this season even if they win this game. But Real Sociedad can hope to jump a couple of places as a result of a win. However, they’ll have to settle for a mid-table position in any case.
Real Sociedad has lost only one game in the last eight played. A major part can be credited to splendid performances by their goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo. In an interview, Bravo stressed the need to learn from the mistakes of this season and fix them next time around.
Sociedad’s top-scorer, Carlos Vela, who is on loan from Arsenal, might have to return to England after this game. Similarly, another player, rather a veteran will also be playing his last game with the club. Sociedad’s skipper, Mikel Aranburu will leave the club after sixteen years of association with it.
Talking of departures, Valencia’s coach, Unai Emery will also leave after this game. He has signed a contract with Spartak Moscow and will move to Russia after the game. Under Emery, Valencia has come third for the third consecutive La Liga season. He also took Valencia to semifinals of Copa Del Rey and the Europa League.
As for the team news, Adil Rami is suspended for Valensia. So, this will make way for midfielders like Hedwiges Maduro and Mehmet Topal to make a contribution.
