Ranji trophy final : Mumbai beat Karnataka to lift Ranji Trophy

In the final match of the Ranji Trophy, defending champions Mumbai won their 39th Ranji trophy title when they beat Karnataka by just 6 runs in a thriller at Mysore on Thursday.

Chasing 338 for a win, Karnataka was bowled out for 331 to pave way for a six-run win for Mumbai.

Karnataka had resumed from their overnight total of 135/3. Their overnight pair of Manish Pandey and Ganesh Satish then took the attack to the opposition as the pair added more than 200 for the fourth wicket.

At one stage, the Karnataka side was 255/3 and looking good to close out the game. However, a middle order collapse left them with 36 runs to get and with three wickets standing.

The last three wickets fell for the addition of 28 runs, as Ajit Agarkar ended with a five-wicket haul to give Mumbai the match and the tournament.
