The Kings XI have been up to the task so far. With only one league game to play, they are still in contention for the playoffs. The equation came down to winning their last and second last league game to have any chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
The second last game was against the defending champions, CSK. This is when their captain made a come back after missing nine games due to a torn hamstring. Gilchrist marked his return in style by buoying his team to victory with his unbeaten 64.
This is the next challenge for the Punjab team. They now have to defeat the table toppers, Delhi Daredevils. Even then they will have to hope for either RCB or MI to lose.
The Daredevils, on the other hand dont have much to lose now. They have already almost confirmed their place in the top two qualifying teams. Morne Morkel and Sehwag were both rested in their last game against the RCB. They are expected to sit out again. However, Ross Taylor’s 25 ball 54 against the Royal Challengers was good news for the Daredevil’s middle order. This match will be more of a preparation for the playoffs and the final. The Daredevils will hope to finalize a winning combination from this game and the previous one.
