The 58th match of the Indian Premier League 2012 will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The kkr vs mi match is scheduled for May 12.

It is interesting to note that this is the first time these two teams are playing this season. The fact that it is so close to the playoffs, makes it even more of a pressure game.

The KKR is in a splendid form. They have won six games in a row, including one against the table leader, Delhi Daredevils, whom KKR displaced from that position temporarily. A win here will take KKR to the top spot again with 19 points.

Kolkata’s top order is very stable, with Gambhir, McCullum, Kallis and Bisla all pitching in quite effectively. But even if they fail, there is a big wall for the opposition to climb: Sunil Narine. Narine has been impeccable with his spin bowling. his economy and strike rate have continued to be impressive throughout the tournament.

Mumbai Indians have not been as consistent as the Daredevils or the Knight Riders. Their batting has been ordinary and apart from Malinga, the bowling has also been quite mediocre. The Mumbai team needs to put its act together for the last few games, in order to qualify for the playoffs.
