The 1st ODI between India vs Australia will begin in Vadodara on Sunday 25th October 2009.

Match Start time 09.00 local time (03.30GMT)

Australia looks to me as the favourites to win the 7 odi series because of their current form and also not to forget that they have just won the ICC Champions trophy 2009  in south Africa which is a 50 over format.

India on the other hand is still suffering from Injuries with Yuvraaj singh missing the 1st ODI, and latest in the list is the captain himself, reportedly during a practrice session dhoni got injured on a Munaf Patel delivery.

“I should be alright tomorrow,” Dhoni said. “But have to wait and see how it feels in the morning.”

8 ODI’s have been played in Vadodara . India have played seven of those, winning five. Australia have played only once, beating India

Pitch and conditions

The vadodara pitch is expected to be good batting track . But since the match is a day one and the early start at 9-00 am will tempt a team to field first. The last 5 matches in this stadium have been won by the teams batting second.

Quotes

“Of course we are hit by injuries but this series is a long series and this gives you an opportunity to come back into the series if you lose the first few games. It is a seven-match series so you have ample time in between because the span of the series is quite long. So it is important to play good cricket throughout because it is not like a five-game or a four-game series where you win the first few games and the tournament is in your hands.”
