The BCCI and the IPL Governing Council decided to take strong action against the IPL players suspected of involvement in spot fixing. 5 players have been suspended for 15 days.

In the meantime, the Governing Council has asked the BCCI anti-corruption unit to investigate the charges. The report of the anti-corruption unit is to be submitted within 15 days, during which the accused players will not be allowed to play any matches.  spot fixing 5 suspended in IPL spot fixing

The five suspended players include Mohnish Mishra, Shalabh Srivastava, TP Sudhindra, Amit Yadav and Abhinav Bali.  The sting operation that busted these players was conducted by a television channel, India TV. The channel claims spot fixing to be spread to other domestic games and blames the IPL team owners and big players to be involved as well.

The BCCI has publicly announced its zero tolerance policy on this issue. It claims that none of the players found guilty would be spared.

The accused players have understandably denied the charges and are waiting for the BCCI report to be submitted.
