step one

And to think we were worried about lead in toys, or cardboard in the dumplings.

Snopes says it’s true that awoman in China found her hair band unraveling, so she cut the thread off it only to find recycled condoms inside! Unused, thank goodness.

step two

“…a small part came loose when I used the bands to tie my hair up one morning. It looked strange to me because of its different color – not the yellow color we normally see in plastic bands. I peeled deeper and found something that looked like a condom.”

Thanks goodness she didn’t find something yellow-colored you normally see in a used condom, eh? Gosh, I am sorry I know that. Just think, had the things been used before what the possibility of spreading STDs might be.

step three

It is sincerely hoped (for lack of a better word in such circumstances) that the prophylactics had failed to meet quality control standards at the manufacturing plant. Hopefully the rubbers weren’t found lacking in other QC tests. Or is that another reason why Chinese have so many people?

step four

So, China. What about this quality control thing? What other things might we should be looking into to see what’s inside? I’m afraid to know.

    Its just rubber? :)

Someone does not know what condoms are made out of.

As a side note, why the hell use condoms in the first place China? Oh wait, because you like to take short cuts in everything you do because you have no decent quality of living for your citizens so you think that should be forced up on EVERYONE who you export to.

They may be unused, but it’s still pretty disturbing.

It’s amazing how people can freak out because of a goddamn hairband.

IT’S A HAIRBAND, NOT AN ATOMIC BOMB.IT’S NOT IMPORTANT.EVEN SNOPES SAYS THE CONDOMS ARE UNUSED.HOW CAN YOU GET AN STD FROM AN UNUSED CONDOM?

GOOD GOD, IF IT IS UNUSED, IT’S JUST RUBBER.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN UNUSED CONDOM AND ANY OTHER KIND OF RUBBER?

Bring on the ad hominem arguments, jerks.I’ll never read this again, anyway.I’ll just click Stumble! and go away forever.

I highly doubt that they would be making hairbands with used condoms, did you ever think that maybe they’re just using factory rejects?

It’s not so much putting them in your hair, I’m concerned about. Every person with substantial hair puts a hairband in their mouth at one stage or another. Fresh or not, that’s just creepy. I sure hope those things get dunked in a vat of bleach… or something to the

I read somewhere that these hairties were specifically made and advertised for having used condoms

Indeed, indeed. But the thought of having a condom in your hair, although not literally IN YOUR HAIR, is quite unnerving.
