Learn Chinese – 百发百中100 Shots, 100 Bull’s Eyes

Submitted by admin on Saturday, 5 January 2008No Comment

百 bai 发 fa 百 bai 中 zhong  = 100 shots, 100 bull's eyes.

A marksman shot arrows from a bow a hundred times and hit a hundred bull's eyes only to overhear an old man say that the marksman still needed a bit of instruction.

Wondering what else he could learn that would make him better than perfect, the marksman asked the old gent.

The old fellow reminded the marksman that he was growing tired and that if he continued he would surely at some time miss the mark and ruin his perfect record.

Not only does this expression refer to excellent marksmanship but also refers to great accuracy in predicting situations.

Could it also mean to learn when enough is enough?
