iPod Nano’s Success Belongs in Part To China
Jon Rubinstein was former Senior Vice President, iPod Division at Apple .
At a recent panel discussion during the Committee of 100‘ s 15th Annual Conference, Rubinstein said a couple of things that caused me to think, "I hadn’t thought of that."
He said, it was largely because of iPod’s engineerin connection with China that the iPod could succeed.
Not only is a great idea necessary, but time to market, time to volume and ramp to volume are important as well.
The iPod mini was Apple’s most successful product. Still, right before Christmas Apple introduced the iPod Nano.
It was because of Apple’s partnership with China, and China’s real ability at high volume production, that the Nano was able to succeed.
Thanks, China! was the message.
If merging talents of engineers in China continue to merge with engineering talents in the US great things lie on the horizon, no?

Recently i purchased the iPod Nano and i love it. i cant compare it to any other iPod because this is the first one that i have owned and operated but it has gotten great reviews and it works up to its potential. i think that it is an excellent idea, espcially in the electronic engineering world to merge with China for its widely well know ideas and start ups. also, i think there are many more wonderful and great things that lie ahead with dealing and merging with China.
You are no doubt right. It takes good teamwork and good collaboration between the two countries.
