Light-Powered Mobile Phone Made in China

Submitted by Bill Belew on Wednesday, 6 June 2007No Comment

Whaddya know…a light powered mobile phone…Made in China, of course.

But, it was also developed by a Chinese company, Beijing-based Hi-Tech Wealth.

It took seven years to develop the device, which stores electricity converted from sunshine into its lithium battery.

One hour of sunlight is worth 40 minutes of talk time.

It can also be recharged with indoor lights – even candles.light-powered.mobile.phone.jpg

One big plus… a reduction in environmental pollution – no need to dispose of the used batteries.

The battery is supposed to last longer than the tradtional types.

The cost – 3,980 yuan ($520).

"Yo! Sunshine! Can you see me know?"
