Learn Chinese with Me

Posted by admin on January 1st, 2008 in PanAsianBiz | No Comments

I have never been one to make New Year's resolutions.

I do, however, like many, set goals for each year.

This year, I aim to improve my Chinese speaking/reading ability. I'd like to learn an idiom, a proverb or a useful expression each day that I can add to my already basic ability in the language.

I have a plan, somewhat, that I work regularly.  And, yeah, I don't always get it done the way I had hoped. But, I generally stay with it.

I am not a beginner in Chinese, so if you are, the idioms, slang, proverbs and such I will share in future posts are not for you. They are for people who have some

facility with the language.

What does learning Chinese have to do with business?

Seriously, does anybody really ask that question?

My experience has been that one does not need to master a language to be effective in business as much as one needs to be earnest in studying the language.

The individual who is making a serious attempt at communicating, understanding gains tremendous trust. And trust is fundamental in business relationships, especially in China.

Come. Learn with me.

And, if you will, please teach me, too.
