马 ma 马 ma 虎 hu 虎 hu – Sloppy

Mama and Huhu are said to have been two good friends, one rich and the other not.

The richer Huhu helped out Mama until after a time they came to live together. Their families and descendants became indistinguishable.

Mama's roundabout way of solving a problem for Huhu is also considered when people now use the phrase to mean doing things carelessly, or sloppily.

It also used to mean so-so in response to "How's business?" Or "How's your Chinese study coming along?"
