Introducing Chinese Cars – Chery
The Chery appears to be China’s brightest hope for infiltrating the US. According to a survey I read, more than 60% of Chinese think it is has the best shot, compared to other Chinese made cars.
Chery was founded in 1997 and produced nearly 200,000 vehicles in 2005.
Chery has not reached its prominence without conflict and perhaps without cheating. Let the boneheaded lawyers decide.
Chery was sued by GM’s Daewoo for copying GM’s Spark.
The copied vehicles are Daewoo Matiz and Daewoo Magnus. Hmm….
At a post in AManWalksIntoAnOffice we might see what the, um, experts might say of Chery’s chances.
How about you, what do you think is the possibility of seeing Chinese cars like Chery puttering around the before long?
Chery Cars eh? The price of these cars is going to have a lot to do with it. I think the only way I would find that car appealing was if it was dirt cheap and got 100mpg. This is because i dont like little vehicles myself. However, it might appeal to some people as “cute” and with gas prices the way the are (and have been) a lot of people may want to invest in a Chery to save gas. I say good luck to chery:) But if they want to sell big in the US I’d recommend they design something bigger. To Americans big=safe. I dont want to have someone side swipe me driving that thing.
i dont think they have a change just like you said they faild all the expertise the cars will crush like a can you said, but no cause the cherry car looks like you wont be able to fits lots of people to small otherwise but if they didnt try to copied others cars maybe they will be better at building stuff…..
At any rate, before long, there will be a ‘made in China’ stamp on our cars as well. They didn’t think the Japanese could do it…and look what happened.
Time will tell.
