First Million Kilowatt-class Windmill Construction Begins
Construction on the first million kilowatt-class wind power project has begun - in Hebei Province, the Zhangbei Shanjinghe 200-million-kilowatt class national concession wind power project.
It is the first such project in China.
More than three-fourths of the equipment for the project is being made locally and the hope is to provide green, clean energy for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games.
More than $200 million has been set aside for the project.
The power house will be able to:![]()
1. generate 440 million kilowatts per hour
2. save 166,000 tons of standard coal
3. cut emissions of sulfure dioxide by 7,454 tons annually
4. reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 395,000 tons annually
And the runners will not have to choke their way through the marathon either.
What do you think of wind power?
