Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic organizers are threatening to cancel contracts with companies using child labor.
Just threatening? How about let's cancel if/when they are found? Not just threaten.
Investigators have found Chinese factories that are using children as young as 12-years old, while making them work long hours for less than minimum wage, to make backpacks, caps and other licensed products.![]()
China's government wants to use the Games to project a positive image of China.
They can begin by subtracting kids from the work force and adding to the below minimum wage for the workers.
BOCOG says companies that produce authorized products must obey strict regulations or lose their contracts.
Strong words…but when and how will they be enforced?
