Brilliance China Auto will begin making its own-brand cars in Russia.

Brilliance has a partnerr in Germany luxury carmaker BMW.

The company will export $1.8 billion worth of kits that can be used to make 108,000 units of the 1.6 and 1.8 liter Junjie compact sedan.

The automaker will use an existing facility of Russia's industrial group IRITO.

It will be Brilliance's fourth overseas plant – Egypt, Vietnam and DPRK have the other three.

New vehicle sales in Russia were up 23% last year to 1.78 million units from 2005.junjie.russia.jpg

Brilliance's overseas sales were up 85% last year to 12,163 cars from a year ago.

Russia is the new target for Brilliance….Chery Automobile and Great Wall Motor think so, too.

They will also put plants there soon.

Do you think Chinese cars will eventually compete with Japanese cars?
