BOCOG Battles Illegal Ticket Scams
The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Beijing Games (BOCOG) understands what it means to be stolen from.
Ticket scams are on the rise. A lot of people will be showing up to watch venues and NOT be allowed in.
During the second phase of ticket sales, BOCOG was uable to keep up technologically and were unable to meet the high demand for tickets.
Scalpers were/are happy to step in.
During the second phase of ticket sales, 340,000 people bought over 2 million tickets at just five tickets per person in hopes that the tickets will NOT be scalped.
We'll know come August for sure.
BOCOG hopes to sell 7 million tickets for the Games. 1.6 million went by lottery in the first phase.
Three-fourths of the tickets are reserved for domestic sales.
