Beijing University Students Require ID Cards

Submitted by admin on Tuesday, 6 November 2007No Comment

American universities are not the only ones that are concerned about security. Beijing University, one of China's best is feeling the need as well.

A new policy will require people to show ID cards before they can enter some campus buildings….um, why not all?

The purpose of the new policy is partly to prepare for Olympic test events that will take place next month and then the actual venues that will take place next year for the Beijing Summer Olympic Games.

"People from outside still have opportunity to sit in our classes, as long as they arrive at the teaching building ahead of the class," said one university official.

But, students are complaining about intrusions and interruptions from outsiders.

And, of course, there are the real troublemakers….the dangerous ones to consider.

Why shouldn't all people on campuses be required to have ID cards?

Meanwhile…Beijing U is in a tither because decade old notice boards had been demolished. Even the new don't like to see the old go away, eh?
