20% of Toys Tossed Out
I guess if I had thought about it hard enough it would have come to me…there is a watchdog for toys….in China.
It's called the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. They travel through Fujian, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shanghai and look for toys that have sharp edges, dangerous juts and so on.
when they find something, they toss it out.
Of 120 products manufactured by 108 firms that were spot-checked, 19.2% did not qualify and were tossed on the scrap heap of the unloved.
The figure is down from 25% last May.
China exports about 70% of the world's toys. 70%! Seven out of 10 kids are playing with things made in China.
Safety is and will and rightly should remain an issue for Santa's factory.
What's the most dangerous toy you have ever played with?
