Fix for Apple iPhone 4, iPod Touch and iPad to prevent PDF hack attack

Apple users will soon be able to relax when surfing the Internet with their iPhone 4, iPod Touch or iPad devices, as a potentially dangerous vulnerability has surfaced through maliciously constructed fonts in PDF file.  First it was the iPhone 4 antenna issue, now a PDF vulnerability is potentially causing problems with the iPhone, the iPod Touch and the iPad when these systems are used to browse the Internet.

PogoWasRight says, Amid a warning by German authorities of possible malicious use of a critical iPhone exploit, Apple said it has a fix ready and will deliver it in the next smartphone update. The exploit first surfaced Sunday, when it was used to “jailbreak” any device running Apple’s iOS mobile operating system. “Jailbreak” is the term that describes the practice of hacking an iPhone to install apps not authorized by Apple. Mashable reports, Apple stated today that it has already developed a fix for the iPhone and iPad security exploit that could let hackers do critical damage to your iOS device if you simply open a malicious PDF file. Gizmo Whiz tells us, Apple already has a patch that will be able to counter the protection flaw which makes it possible to remotely hack or jailbreak the operating system, which is iOS that is found on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. There is no word on when the patch will be released publicly though, making us wonder why that is the case – perhaps Apple will only bundle it with the next iOS update?
