Russia Next to Get Honda Acura Brand

Honda Motor Co will launch its Acura Brand of luxury cars in Russia next year

Russia's wealthy class in the big cities is the target market.

Behind China and India, Russia is one of the fastest growing markets in the world.

And, Honda wants to increase sales there 6-fold from its 2006 figure to 100,000 vehicles by 2010.

Honda will set up 10 dealerships, up from the current 30 in Russia's big cities, Moscow, St. Petersburg …

The company hopes to sell:

1. RL luxury sedan (Legend),

2. MDX SUV and

3. TL midsize 

The Acura line is available only in North America, China and Mexico…but not Japan (maybe 2010).

In Russia, Honda sales jumped 77% in 2006. Sales are up 120% for the first six months of this year.

I took a ride in a Honda the other day….the guy's car had 296,000 miles on the odometer.

THAT figure will sell Hondas.
