New Beijing International Movie Festival – 2007

After a weeklong series of nightly screenings of fantastic indie movies, the New Beijing International Movie Festival finished in Beijing on December 23rd, 2007.

This festival was the first one of this kind in Beijing, following previous Film Festivals in Shanghai and Zhuhai provinces.

With independent film screenings in Beijing occurring more frequently, a few of the Chinese and foreign organizations involved realized that there was no unifying event bringing all of them together under one banner to promote the cross-cultural communication these screenings catalyze.

Thus, the New International Film Movie Festival/Movie Week was born.

A series of well promoted screenings to raise awareness among the international community about Chinese independent film screenings, and to bring more local Chinese friends to international screening events took place in the Chinese capital of Beijing.

The Golden Duck Award Winners in the different categories went to:

Long Narrative- [La Crème]

Medium Narrative- [God's Good Pleasure]

Short Narrative- [Gustav Braustache and the Auto-Debilitator]

Short Documentary- [Cycle of Change]

Long Documentary- [Kitka and Davka in Concert]

Budgetless Bomb- [Beautiful Daydreams]

Chinese Audience Award- [Expiration Date]
