The gods are monkeys and they have overrun New Delhi

Submitted by admin on Wednesday, 14 November 2007No Comment

Indian capital, New Delhi, has been overrun by monkeys again.

No, not the politicians…real monkeys.

A few weeks back, the capital's deputy mayor fell to his death fighting off a pack of monkeys.

The police have their hands full, wishing instead it were made bulls.

New Delhi has some 35,000 sacred cows and buffaloes that roam free.

One woman has been seriously injured, two dozen more have been given first aid.

Six people have been bitten, including on baby.

Even the daughter of ruling Congress party chief, Sonia Gandhi, has been visited by the pests.

It is estimated that New Delhi has some 10-20,000 monkeys.

Animal control officers use bigger monkeys to scare away the little monkeys.

Devout Hindus, however, think the monkeys are the reincarnation of Hanman, the monkey god of strength.

Even if the animals are caught, neighboring states do not want them because they say 'urban monkeys' terrorize local monkeys and steal food from villages.

Can't kill them, don't want them, can't send them anywhere.

The mayor calls it 'fighting a losing battle.'

I have an idea. Let's set up a zone where all the devout Hindus live and send the monkeys to live with them.

The head of India's Wildlife SOS says, "Humans are taking all their space."

Okay…let the monkeys live with him.
