Shipra Khanna wins ‘MasterChef 2’ title
The second season of the Indian version of the cooking reality show MasterChef has concluded. Shipra Khanna, a 29 year old single mother from Shimla claimed the title in an episode aired on January 1, 2012.
Salma Shazia from Bengaluru and Joseph Rozario from Siliguri were among the finalists on the show. The final episode of the show saw the final two contestants Shazia and Shipra preparing dishes for 100 people, who decided the winner of the second season.
Khanna was declared as the winner by public voting. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar who hosted the first season of the show appeared specially for the final episode.
Shipra claimed a prize money of RS 1 crore and a special chance to host her own cookery show on the channel Star Plus. The winner also won a trip for three nights and four days in London. The runners up did not go empty handed. Shazia the first runner-up of the show was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs, while Joseph was given a job at the Radisson hotel.
