Kaiane Aldorino is Miss World 2009 winner

Kaiane Aldorino, Miss Gibraltar, is the surprise winner of  the Miss World 2009 pageant which took place at Johannesburg, South Africa.

“Thank you South Africa, this is the most wonderful moment of my life,” said a tearful Aldorino

Miss Mexico who was one of the  favorite to win the Miss World title  was the first runner-up and home favorite Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar was the second runner up.

Kaiane Aldorino the new Miss World 2009 winner  is a surprise to folks  around the world considering this is the first time that Gibraltar has ever qualified to be a finalist for the Miss World pageant.

Former Miss World and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra handed over the Miss World 2009 crown to Miss Gibraltar while the outgoing Miss World Ksenia Sukhinova crowned her successor Miss Gibraltar Kaiane Aldorino.

Miss India, Pooja Chopra,  got eliminated in the top 16, after winning the “beauty with a purpose” crown for her charity work.
