Adam Lambert AMA performance video, American music awards 2009
Adam Lambert sizzled at the 2009 American Music Awards with his single, For Your Entertainment.
To no surprise, the bad boy of the American Idol show, as he usually does, proved his point at his performance at the 2009 AMA’s.
Lambert’s American Music Awards performance of his song “For Your Entertainment” clad backup dancers, simulated sex acts, lots of groping, and a kiss with a male midway through the performance.
Adam Lambert, who has a kind of a cocky character for a person to lose the American Idol, also said , there’s a “double standard” and telling Rolling Stone that it would be “discrimination” if his performance was edited for later broadcasts.
Adam Lambert was indirectly referring to Madonna and Britney Spears’ kiss during their surprise performance at the 2003 MTV Music Video Awards.

A gay guy from the theater…what did you expect? Will Lambert have any relevance to music now or later? Of course not so who cares? The guy isn’t stupid. He knows his song sucks so to drum up publicity, he does something raunchy people will talk about. He knows his ticket sales will increase after this. To a performer, that’s all that matters. Any news is good news to a performer. Enjoy it while you can Adam. You’re nothing but a fading pop bubble gum diva. But…that’s what people want now.

It’s really easy for people to voice their opinions and condemn Lambert, isn’t it? Yes he may have given more than the average viewer is used to and he admitted he got carried away. As he explained on The Early Show, his years in theater has trained him to react to an audience in a more spontaneous way:
“Sometimes I forget — ‘Oh, there’s a camera on… “I come from the the theater….I was looking out in the crowd and saw some of my favorite pop stars and thought–I want to let loose. And it just kinda got the best of me.”
Give Lambert a chance and don’t write him off based on the AMA performance. Remember that he is still a brilliant singer, a very entertaining performer and that he is learning, like evryone of us, just in a very public and less forgiving field.
Watch him sing Whataya Want From Me and Music Again on The Early Show(link below)and remember what a great singer he is!

Everyone makes mistakes,we lapse in our judgement. Don’t judge him based only on one performance. Despite all the controversy, he remains a creative, imaginative and original singer/performer.

Oh, btw, Carla… I am a straight female. My friends I talked to who watched it are all straight females. He’s trying to be himself and break through barriers Madonna had to years and years ago. I am part of the audience of which you speak, as are my friends. We loved it; we felt connected to it and thought it was pure entertainment. Your prediction of him not succeeding is laughable. I’d love to have you compare bank accounts a year from now after he goes out on tour and see who is more successful… don’t worry about Adam, he’ll come out of this just fine. He got cancelled from one show and booked on two better shows. That seems to work out in his favor…
Angela… you should have lived next to Archie Bunker in “All in the Family”. That may be the era in which you are more comfortable. Get over yourself.

I thought Adam’s performance was AMAZING! It was exactly as he promised — hot and steamy. I understand that there are a lot of stuffy people who can’t handle it, but they could simply turn to another channel or not watch. If you watched the whole thing and then complain about it, who’s fault is that? Plus, since Dick Clark, the AMAs, and/or ABC want to make such a big deal of it, why didn’t they say something to him in rehearsals? Going back after the fact because some people are homophobic is weak. He put on a great show… Madonna has done things just as racy during these types of shows and it seems to be fine; Adam does it and it gets edited and he gets reprimanded and pulled from talk shows. At the end of the day, this is just going to make him more popular to his real fans. As a female who appreciates true entertainment: Adam, you did a fantastic job and I look forward to that level of entertainment at your shows. Don’t let people discriminate against you because you’re not Madonna. It was to be expected that narrow-minded people would find fault with it; ignore them and be yourself. All my friends and I thought you were fantastic!!
