‘Ek Tha Tiger’ in 100 crore club
It was reported on Aug 20, 2012 that “Ek Tha Tiger”, which was released on nearly 2,500 screens across the globe on Aug 15 2012 made 77.10 cr till Aug 19 2012. The movie made an approx 16.75 Crores on it’s 1st Saturday at the Indian box office. Starting off with a huge 32.92 Crores, “Ek Tha Tiger” had made 14.55 Crores on it’s 2nd day and a 12.80 Crores nett on it’s 1st Friday.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported on Sunday (August 19)”Ek Tha Tiger – India actuals Sat 16.75 cr. Total: 77.10 cr net. Excellent growth on Saturday,”.
The movie has, however, underperformed in the key UK market, claims Adarsh. He tweeted: “Ek Tha Tiger UK Saturday £89,017 [11 screens yet to report]. Total: £291,509 [Rs 2.55 cr]. Could be better!”
Other movies that made over 100 crore in 2012 are “Agneepath”, “Bol Bachchan” and “Rowdy Rathore”
Trade Analysts are predicting that “Ek Tha Tiger” will break the box office record for the highest-grossing Bollywood movie ever, currently held by “3 Idiots”. The movie is expected to join the 100 crore club within the next week. The action film has already broken existing box office records in the five days since its release.
