South Korean Truckers Want to Paralyze the Nation

This striking thing doesn't make sense to me on a lot of levels.

Spanish and French truckers went on strike, against high diesel prices.

They parked their trucks and let them burn fuel that they claim they can't afford to buy.

It made so little sense that South Korean truck drivers decided to do the same.

The truckers sat outside the port city of Pusan to protest the Korean government's policy package dealing with record-breaking crude oil prices.

The Korean government says they will spend $9.77 billion over the next year to deal with the problem.

The truckers say they want:

1. lower diesel fuel costs

2. higher fees for hauling freight

3. a standardized pricing system

Let me see if I understand. They want cheaper fuel, to be paid more to haul it and give a higher wage or, they'll paralyze the nation.

Five years ago in South Korea, truckers went on strike. It cost the nation some $540 million. Who paid for that?

Right…the people who went shopping to buy the food and other items they haul.
