Honda Motor Co. will export SUVs made at its Mexican plant to Brazil and Argentina early next year. After that Honda wants its Mexican plant to be an export base of CR-V SUV shipments to North America.

"By taking advantage of the location of our Mexican plant, situated between North and South America, we aim to lift supply to both markets," says Honda's prez.

The announcement was made when the plant rolled out its 200,000th vehicle.

Honda started manufacturing its Accord passenger vehicles in 1995.

In September of this year production was switched to the popular CR-V.

Annual capacity was upped from 30,000 to 50,000.

The Mexican market is also a target.

Honda hopes sales in Mexico will climb 10% or more from the 55,000 units this year.
