Taxis Stink!

Submitted by Bill Belew on Wednesday, 7 March 2007No Comment

More than one-third of the taxis in Beijing stink.

That's the conclusion of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

And you thought there weren't enough committees in play.

The committee concluded that the smell was unbearable. The odors result from the bad habits of the cab drivers who often smoke, eat and sleep in their cars.

According to the committee, it is NOT a trivial thing because the drivers and their horses will relect on China's image during the Summer Games next year in Beijing.

Beijing has 67,000 registered taxis.

Let's see, if 22,000 of them smell like people have been eating and sleeping in them…yup, that would be quite a stench.

Have you ever been in a taxi in Beijing?

The times I have been there, I either took a bus or a rickshaw whereever I went.
