Spiderman 3 Will Open in China Before U.S.

Submitted by Bill Belew on Sunday, 11 March 2007No Comment

Well, if you can't beat them, beat them.

Spiderman III is slated to open in theaters on the Chinese mainland, May 1st, BEFORE it is released in the United States, on May 4th.

American blockbusters often, always?, are released in China BEFORE they hit the big screen, albeit, illegally on DVD.

So, why not show the movie in theaters before the piraters have a chance to smuggle cameras in to movie houses across the U.S. and then distribute them elsewhere?

It makes sense.

Spiderman made 43 million yuan in China. Spidey II made 55 million yuan. Perhaps SIII will do better.

Maybe, we can watch pirated copies in the US now, before they hit the big screen.

Have you ever bought a pirated DVD?

I bought U-543 when I was in Beijing to watch on my laptop coming home on a 15 hour flight. It didn't work.
