"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," finally opened in China…legally.

Though not sold out at midnight premieres, evening shows did sell out.

On half-price Tuesdays, the movie is the top choice among students.pirates3.china.jpg

None of the actors, Johnny Depp, Chow Yun-fat, et al, came to Beijing to promote the flick.

And, why would they? Chow Yun-fat's part was cut out of the movie for Chinese audiences.

Apparently, even a good pirate is not a good pirate to the Chinese.

"Youth Daily reported that more than half of the scenes featuring Hong Kong star Chow Yun-fat in "Pirates III" have been cut for its Chinese mainland release, including his recitation of a poem in Cantonese."

If Chinese audiences want to see the extended version…psst! There's a guy over here with a suitcase.
