China has received more than 268,000 patent applications in the first half of theis year…7.3% more than last year says the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

For the most part they involve:

1. inventions

2. utility models

3. designs

By the end of June last year, China's patent applications had exceeded 3 million.

So, um, where are all these new products?

Trademark registrations were just shy of 5 million and trade marks registered reached 2.77 million.

China has some 600 patent agent organizations.
