Google Ties Tighter Knot with Chinese “Youtube” – Xunlei Networking Technology

Submitted by Bill Belew on Thursday, 4 January 2007No Comment

Google has found another dance partner.

Xunlei Networking Technology is Chinese peer-to-peer file sharing network operator based in Shenzhen.

The company provides peer-to-peer file sharing and download accelerating services.

Some 80 million users have downloaded its accelerating software and Xunlei's website attracts more than 50 million visitors a day.

Google is struggling to keep up with Baidu. Apparently Google thinks that by bundling it's toolbars to Xunlei's software and web sites will equate to more users.

Google will need to do a lot more to increase its 16% market share compared to Baidu's 57%.

Google initially had a 2.6% share in Baidu (2004) but cashed out after Baidu went public.

That 2.6% foothold is looking pretty big about now.

What do you think?

I tell you what, Xunlei has became the biggest enemy for thousands of downloading websites in china. The reason why is that users do not need to actuaclly browse website but are still able to connect with website and download. Load of server dosent change, but visits decline.

Associated with google? tough time for those other downloading website.

    Very interesting site.
