Google Sued by Beijing Guge Science and Technology

Submitted by Bill Belew on Friday, 13 July 2007No Comment

Beijing Guge is suing Google China.

A spokesman for " Beijing Guge Science and Technology Ltd. Co. said Google's commercial name had led to the company being constantly disturbed by people calling up its office trying to contact the search engine."

The company's request is simple – "We just want Google to change their commercial name."

Yeah! The world's number one search engine just needs to change its name. How hard can that be?

When people search a local telephone directory for Google, Guge in Chinese, invariably they call Beijing Guge.guge.beijing.jpg

Beijing Guge has been around longer than Google and a court in Beijing's Haidian district has accepted the

suit.

What Beijing Guge does is "not convenient" to be talked about.

Google could probably just by the company and give them a new name.

Do you think Google should be required to change its name because it inconveniences someone else?
