Good news for Chinese wanting to visit the United States.
Last year, the U.S. embassy in China issued 400,000+ visas. That number was up 17% from the year before. Some 80% of people who applied were approved.
Last December China gave the United States approved destination status.
The flood gates have cracked open.
As things improve in China, US destinations are keen to attract tourists. The embassy/consulates are more confident the travelers will return, too. The destinations are confident the Chinese will bring a lot of money with them.
The the US Department of Commerce is forecasting the number of Chinese traveling to the United States within three years to be 579,000/annually. And, if each of those tourists spend a couple of thousand dollars…Let's see, what's 579,000 x $2000?
Up until now, the biggest problem for the US Embassys was worrying about whether visitors to the U.S. from China would return home or not. With the Chinese economy buzzing along and the U.S. facing a downturn, one wonders if American visitors to the Middle Kingdom will come back or not.
