Dalian, China will be the home to Intel's 8th 300mm wafer plant and first in Asia.

Intel Corp, with a total investment of $2.5 billion held a foundation-laying ceremony over the weekend for a 163,000 square meter, 15,000 square meters of clean rooms, facility.

Intel has the world's largest 300mm (12") wafer manufacturing network.

Dalianites will be happy come 2010 and the site is complete.

It gets cold in the coastal city of Dalian…though a very beautiful place. Well, it was when I was there a few years back and they were recruiting people to come live.

Now…it's likely to be just another big city…a big city where Intel is calling it home in Asia.

Have you ever been to Dalian?
