Chinese Tourism Generates $138 billion

China's tourism revenue reached Y1.09 trillion (137.92 billion U.S. dollars) last year. It's the first time it broke the one trillion yuan mark says the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) statistics.

    "In 2007, the overall inbound travelers reached 132 million, up 5.5 percent compared with the previous year, among which more than 54 million people stayed overnight, up 9.6 percent." says CNTA director

The country's tourism industry should further open to the outside world and foster its unique competitiveness says the tourism director – Let's make more money under the pretenses of showing the world our beautiful country.

Official statistics say the country's tourism industry has created 500,000 job opportunities just in 2007 alone.
