Chinese Top Foreign Resident in Japan List
The Koreans are no longer the largest population of foreigners in Japan.
For the longest time they were. Largely in part to many Koreans being brought to Japan by force when Japan had the Korean peninsula under colonial rule.
Now the Chinese are number one in population.
Altogether there are 2,152,973 registered foreign residents in Japan says the Justice Ministry's Immigration Bureau. This number is up 50% over ten years ago and accounts for about 1.7% of the total population of Japan.
The top five countries –
1. China – 606,889 – 28.2%
2. Korea – 593,489 – 27.6%
3. Brazil. BTW – there are more Japanese living in Brazil than in any other country in the world besides Japan.
4. Philippines
5. Peru
Japan needs workers to do what they can't get their robots to do. And the Chinese seem to have an endless supply of manpower at the ready.
