Chinese Graduates Still NOT Finding Work

Submitted by Bill Belew on Thursday, 1 November 2007No Comment

Chinese graduates are still NOT finding work.

About three in 10 are still pounding the pavement looking for jobs.

Some 5 million students graduated…but 1.44 million remain unemployed as of September, the start of the new year.

In 2001, 340,000 grads hadn't found work by the new school year…this year it is 4 times that. Of course, more kids are getting into colleges these days.

This year, however, 580,000 grads chose to work in country- or village-jobs and 550,000 opted to wrok in central and western regions in response to new

government policies to waive debts of graduates willing to do so.chinese.college.graduate.jpg

Finders, 40% of them, are working for private or foreign-funded companies.

Just 0.4% are starting their own companies.

One would think that with the Chinese economy buzzing along…there would be jobs out the gazoo…

Not so.

How long did it take you to find a job out of college?

One grad….it took 12 years
