China's auto sales are up 23% in the first seven months of this year.

The top three sellers were:

Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.,

Jilin-based FAW

Hubei-based Dongfeng Motor Corp.

The three automakers have pledged $5+ billion to develop brands with independent intellectual

property rights.chery.iran.jpg

What? The companies are done taking from others and now they don't want anybody taking from them?

The tree carmakers take about 50% of the Chinese car market.

Money will be designated for

1. developing new models

2. developing software

3. 229 primary auto technologies

Are the three companies going to be reinventing the wheels and the cars that go on them perhaps?

Meanwhile,#7 Chery, also China's biggest domestic automaker, will open a factory in Iran. The cost $370 million. The factory will assemble Chery's compact S21 (QQ6).
