China Wants Civilian Nuclear Power
China's nuclear power firms are going the way of the auto and electronic companies.
The country wants to export it's ability and technology overseas.
Problem is, there is a massive push to expand the country's reliance on nuclear power domestically. If they have leeway to go overseas, why not work harder/do more at home?
Last month, Russia signed a $1billion pack with China to build and supply a uranium enrichment plant in China, taking a huge step toward civilian nuclear independence.
China's nuclear reactor age is less than 20-years old.
China already has deals with France's Areva and Westinghouse of the U.S. which is owned by Japan's Toshiba.
China is quick to build older model nuclear reactors.
WARNING! WARNING!
The word's speed and nuclear power do not belong in the same sentence.
China is currently limited to devoting most of the country's technical know-how and capital (both listed and State-owned) to domestic needs.
China has a target of 4 new generators each year through 2015.
Nuclear power – it's an alternative IF it is managed correctly. Therein lies the problem…management.
