Apple, Starbucks Offer free iTunes Access in China?
I found this bit of news on a Chinese news site –
Apple Inc and Starbucks Corp. have reached an exclusive agreement that will allow coffee drinkers to buy songs wirelessly from Apple's iTunes music store while sipping lattes in Starbucks coffee shops….without paying for a WiFi connection.
Apple's new wireless iPods, iPhones and laptops running iTunes will automatically detect an iTunes store without a connection fee.
If you hear a song that you like while waiting for your drink…buy it.![]()
Any chance that Starbucks service will slow down a bit….instead of getting a drink in one song…maybe it will take two songs.
"Tthe 'Now Playing' service at Starbucks is a great way for customers to discover new music," said Apple's CEO.
Starbucks' boss said, "We're bringing Apple's leadership in digital music together with the unique Starbucks experience, to offer customers a world-class digital music experience." And coffee, too?
The service will be rolled out on October 2nd in NYC and Seattle.
PAB readers want to know…when will the service be available in China?
Answer…there is no timeline for rolling out the service internationally.
Bummer….
Yeah, this deal is pretty unique, and the word unique has both positive and negative meanings….much like this deal. The really neat thing is how they were able to come up with this deal in the first place. Check out this map http://www.newsvisual.com/newsvisual/2007/09/9-06-2007-apple.html, their directors also serve as directors at (of all places) Nike and Timberland
Well, if you’re ever in shenzhen, all the Starbucks here already offer free wi-fi…
