120 Million Cell Phones Sold in ‘06

More than 120 million cell phones were sold in China last year – up 40% from last year.
That number is expected to jump another 30% this year to 150 million.
Altogether, China manufacture 450 million handsets last year….350 million of which were exported.
Domestic makers accounted for only 50 million (ONLY!?) handsets. Nokia and Motorola dominate the market.
Global mobile phone sales grew by 25% and it is estimated that more than 1 billion people are using cell phones …most of them while driving!
The number of cell phone users in China is 461 million, up 17% from 2005…about one in three Chinese.
The average Chinese buys a new phone every 21 months.
I NEVER get a new phone. My wife does…and she gives me her old one. Maybe I should go to China.
